OTHER QUESTIONS ABOUT PLUG-IN HYBRID VEHICLES
Plug-in hybrid or electric car: which to choose?
When it comes down to it, a hybrid vehicle is no better or worse than an electric vehicle. To decide which low-emissions vehicle would suit you best, you need to consider your driving habits and your requirements.
An electric vehicle is better if you only make daily urban journeys.
If you're used to driving long distances on a regular basis, a hybrid vehicle is likely the best choice. Plug-in hybrid vehicles allow you to travel in full electric mode or in hybrid mode, meaning you can alternate between driving in full electric or using the combustion engine depending on the type of roads you take.
How to charge your plug-in hybrid car
PEUGEOT plug-in hybrid cars combine the advantages of a petrol engine car and an electric car within the same vehicle.
A hybrid car uses two power sources: a petrol engine, and one or two electric motors with a battery and external charging port. The difference between a full hybrid car and a plug-in hybrid car is that the latter has to be plugged in to recharge the battery and drive up to 45 km in electric mode with our PEUGEOT models, rather than just 2 or 3 km for the non-rechargeable models.
A hybrid vehicle allows you to alternate your driving between full electric, hybrid mode or using the combustion engine. You can adapt your driving mode based on the type of road you take.
Do plug-in hybrid vehicles emit less CO2 than vehicles with petrol engines?
Thanks to its battery, a plug-in hybrid car can drive for many kilometres in electric mode, with no CO2 exhaust emissions. In order to optimize CO2 emissions, choose driving in full electric mode for daily urban trips. This means you’ll need to charge your hybrid vehicle’s battery regularly in order to use the electric motor.
By using certain ecodriving techniques during trips in HYBRID mode, you can optimize the driving range of your car in electric mode and thus reduce CO2 emissions.
